He captures moments, whether frozen in time, basking in the sun or drenched in moonlight; often his brush trailing light in foliage and its filigree, as the eye of a bird in flight.’

The artist has always been fascinated by the mountains and the rainforests at their foothills. Most of his works emanate as dreamscapes of imagined lands that blur the distinction of his travels to different parts of the globe. With his imagination and lingering memories of dawn and dusk. This work that captures an almost surreal light, caressing the mountains with a brilliant yellow, is a reminiscence of the artist’s memory of one such occasion –that he calls “lyrics of light.” A symphony of colours create rows and columns of trees that punctuate the mountains like some musical notations of Nature’s symphony. To quote Keshav Malik ”Here then is a silent discourse on the music of colours “

In this symphony of colours, the five elements blend in a fluid energy of translucent and transparent shadows and reflections.
Light emanates from deep within. The sky creates a turbulent storm masterly contained in the receptacle of river’s water. There is fire, somewhere. Latent, yet potent. The yellow creates a dream sequence that weaves it all into notations of music that only nature can emanate.
The artist sat on the river bank at dusk, and soaked in the Thames on a winter evening. As night descended, lights from a distance blurred the landscape in an ethereal glow. Gupta translated that memory as a dreamscape.

The river within the rainforest, making its way along undulating sylvan bodies, has always found its story in several occasions of light along the artist’s journey. Sometimes meandering, at other times emerging into a broader pathway of water.
The artist has always managed to create several stories about their mating. In this work the river is making its way out into a broader body of light and water.
What appears simplistic is the vestibule of an organic long-standing bonding between the river and the rainforest.
